Born in France, Alexandre Started studying ballet with Michelle Miance in Mantes La Jolie... Thanks to her he was introduced to the school of Paris Opera Ballet where he graduated in 1980, where he studied ballet, jazz, modern, mime, character dance, acting and history of dance. His teachers include: Claude Bessy, Max Bozzoni, Solange Golovine, Rene Bon, Gilbert Meyer, Molly Molloy, Joseph Roussillo and Michel Renauld.
In 1980 he is awarded a grant to study at the American Dance Festival at Durham University (NC). Upon his return to France he auditioned for E . Virginia Williams, Pierre Lacotte and Violette Verdy who invited him to join the Boston Ballet. In 1984, after participating in the first New York International Dance Competition, he is invited to join the New York City Ballet, under Peter Martins and Jerome Robbins, where he performed as a soloist and principal dancer the extensive company’s repertory. In 1995 he was featured in the Tony nominated, new Broadway production of Chronicle of a Death Foretold directed and choreographed by Graciela Daniele. In 1997 he was a guest artist with the Martha Graham Dance Company for a year. In 1999 he joined director/choreographer Martha Clarke with whom he worked for three years on various new productions including Vers La Flamme and Hans Christian Andersen.
As a New-York City resident he has performed, taught and choreographed for numerous companies and schools across the globe including The New York City Ballet, School of American Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Stars of Paris Opera, the Paris Opera, Teatro Colon (Buenos Aires), Maggio Danza (Florence), Cape Town City Ballet (SA) Ballettakademien (Stockholm) the Juilliard School, the Ailey School, Steps on Broadway and the Lines Ballet School (San Francisco) the New Jersey Ballet and Bordeaux Opera Ballet and the Joffrey School in New York.
